I believe i contributed to this seminar but i can not remember. I think that this story gives us a good picture of dating in this generation. We think that dating and being intimate with another person is much more relaxed than older people do. I think that because of this Robert reacted the way he did toward Margot when she ignored him at the bar then ignored his texts. Because of the 14 year age gap between them Robert has a different view of things than Margot does. His reaction and calling her a "whore" was very immature of him and uncalled for which is weird because he is much older and supposed to be more mature and wise but this is not the case in this story. Robert does not understand today's "hook up culture". Today what happened between Margot and Robert is very common and known between the people who engage in it and because of Robert's age and generation he does not get it so he thinks she a "whore". They both hold different values and view points on the world and i think this is why it did not end up working for them.

The story as a whole was very distorted due to the fact that the narrator Fuckhead was on drugs and so was Georgie. It made the whole story very unusual. Fuckhead the narrator seems to be exactly like Georgie and are always together it seems as if they are actaully the same person. It made me think that maybe Fuckhead is one of Georgie's alter egos, saying that he has multiple personalities. Considering that Georgie was on drugs the whole time and managed to save the Terrance Weber's eye and save his life while he was on drugs makes me think about his potential if he was off drugs or if his other personality Fuckhead was off them and they could work together. I also thought that maybe it could be a vivid dream where he becomes a life saver because maybe in reality he wants to save lives. At the end the soldier who is AWOL asks Georgie what he does and he replies "i save lives" so in reality he may want to save lives but it could all be a dream. The story was quite confusing and hard to follow but i enjoyed it.

When a person is a CMD patient they are conscious and aware and when they are a vegetable they are unconscious and unaware. The big question is whether they have enough information and tools to get a for sure yes or no response from the patient so they can ask them if they would like to die or continue living. Also another moral obligation they are facing is whether to test every vegetable patient to see if they are actually still there like a CMD patient. The ethical question of whether to ask them if they would like to die is a very tough one because there are many factors. Like they do not know for sure if the responses they are getting are actually what the patient is saying/wanting. But the other side to it is that if they do choose to "pull the plug" they could use those funds to other for sure conscious patients. Since these patients can only answer yes and no questions and we still do not have enough tools we cannot ask them questions like "do you want to die" because maybe they enjoy life and are happy and they test result come back as they want to die when they really don't then they die. Which is very sad to think that many patients presumed to be a vegetable or wanting to die, died without say or want.

I don't really understand what is happening in this story. I think that Urszula has a mental illness like schizophrenia and believes that killing someone will lead her to a better place. Also i thought it may be all a bad dream. Another theory is maybe shes depressed and killing the old man is like killing herself or she knows the old man is dangerous and that he will kill her because she thinks death is the better place. Maybe heave? In the story she talks about the poison berries that make them sleepy and feel good, i think that they are referring to taking drugs and maybe they are addicted and cause them to have delusions like the one that killing someone takes you to a better place. At the end it does not say she dies but i think it is know that she never left that house so we do not know if she got what she wanted. We also do not know what she really wanted because there is no other special place. I think she is just delusional and wants to die. At one point in the story toward the beginning she talks as if she is not from earth and needs to get home so for a second i thought she was an alien plus she keeps referring to her mother as "woman". I did really enjoy the story although i don't understand Urszula and Waldermar's logic at all.
